Experience

Independent Researcher and Community Developer

July 2020 - February 2023

Sabbatical (Self-directed Learning and Community Development)

Embracing the chance to expand my professional and personal horizons, I embarked on a two-year sabbatical. My journey was a blend of independent research, particularly in dependency injections and emerging technology such as Web Assembly, and practical hands-on application. I designed and implemented bots and services using Node.js and Express, which automated and streamlined community engagement and management processes on a personal Linux server. In my community work, I focused on fostering a vibrant and supportive digital space for pro-LGBTQIA+ initiatives. Using Discord, I developed bots and services that handled a variety of tasks, from member verification and housekeeping duties to incident reports and community engagement. My contributions in this space garnered attention from a top gaming company, serving as a testament to my innovative problem-solving and dedication to marginalized communities.

At Eastman, I led cross-functional efforts to gather requirements, redesign, and implement greenfield Fiori systems. Key projects include a Capital Request System that automated work order creation and billing, and a Railcar Inspection Management System that enabled real-time, error-free data recording. I also spearheaded initiatives to automate payment processing with large global bank corporations and implemented a SAPUI5 dashboard for procurement buyers. In 2017, I was recognized in the top 5% of my salary grade by the company's CFO for my contributions. My other work spans across many facets of SAP integration and development.

Enterprise Application Development (SAP) - Advanced Software Engineer

May 2015 - July 2021

Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, TN

Systems Analyst - Reporting Solutions

May 2014 - May 2015

Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, TN

Starting as an intern, I worked on SSRS and SSIS integrations with available data sources. I reimplemented a vast array of Crystal Reports to SSRS reports, which included reports to federal agencies on acceptable leaks and release thresholds. My time as an intern was also devoted to refactoring legacy code for the Behavior Based Safety system, a platform for employees to anonymously report safety issues. Leading to improved workplace safety and employee awareness of hazardous risks.

In this role, I developed the essential skills of leadership, customer service, and time management, which have served as a solid foundation for my professional growth. As a Restaurant Manager, I supervised a team, ensuring top-notch service while maintaining operational efficiency. My responsibilities also involved inventory management, training new team members, handling customer concerns, and liaising with vendors and suppliers. This early leadership experience was a valuable lesson in team management and provided an understanding of the dynamics of a fast-paced work environment.
